I read an article a number of years ago about "the uncanny valley", the mental disturbance that we experience when something is real and not-real at the same time.
I don’t find the robot dog quite uncanny, but I do find the fact that people keep kicking it disturbing. Makes me wonder if they program avoidance behavior into it, if someday it will flinch away, or even counter-attack. Food for thought. Meanwhile, impressive how they have it move and recover balance. |
