On my morning walk today, I saw the moon hanging high in the blue sky. I thought about all of the fanciful sci-fi alien landscape art that I have seen and loved over the years, like Dollens paintings. Usually there are multiple moons in the sky, as an obvious sign that this is an "alien" landscape. Usually the moons are clustered near each other.
So it occurs to me to wonder if that’s really likely, in terms of orbital mechanics. Would multiple moons of a planet appear near each other in the sky… |
