Woke up at 6am, couldn’t get back to sleep, then Mike’s alarm went off at 6:30ish for Pacificon (ham radio annual conference). Shotgun blasts outside turn out to be duck hunting season starting in the Baylands nearby, no worries.
RISKS Digest: Truly ginormous credit card fraud ring using doctored point of sale card swipers with implanted cellphone chips that send card details off to Pakistan. The international crime cartel modified the devices sometime after manufacture in China, resealed them, and let them get shipped off as normal.
Zomg adorable baby wolf vid, teaching a little one to howl. Nice.
Community garden meeting at 10am today. Garden winding down, still a few tomatoes or peppers around, have some floating row cover up, need to dig in storage shed today and find the rest of the roll. Down into the 50’s at night a lot, so the beans are starting to do ‘game over’, too bad. Got a quart + 2 cups of runner beans drying on the sideboard, now I just need a slow cooker. I still have runners left over from last year, because I didn’t like how they came out in the rice cooker. Have oodles of garden pix not yet uploaded to flickr, oh well. Missed blog action day after signing up back in August (argh).
Volunteered to create ‘haunted greenhouse’ for the Full Circle Farm Halloween event, so need to go finish bundling cornstalks this weekend and do the layout planning. Fun, but nasty– lots of dust and junk on the stalks, so my sinuses hate me after I do even a couple hours. Will use a mask this time.
After a long time of No Music, two upcoming events– the Abney Park concert at the Steampunk convention in Sunnyvale, in 2 weeks. And next weekend, quite surprisingly, the Bridge School Benefit, with Neil Young. Mike’s work has a box at Shoreline, and his manager’s manager dropped a couple of tix on him in appreciation for all the extra time he’s put in this month while a coworker was out on medical leave. Should be really awesome. Even came with a ticket for valet parking!
