Every now and then the level of surreality in my inbox does a noticeable blip. The latest blip is the e-flyer for Gold Star Events (discount arts/theatre tickets).
In addition to more conventional offerings like the play 'Hairspray', this week's flyer lists “URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL” and “YOUNGER MAN/OLDER WOMAN SINGLES MIXER”.
The former is allegedly a Tony Award winner. I wouldn't know, not keeping up with such things. Lest I be accused of too conservative a bias, I should mention that my first thought upon seeing the description of 'Hairspray' was “Where's the original version, the one they recast with straight people? This is SO not a straight-people play, gang.”
