Dear Representative Eshoo,

I hope you will join Senator Boxer and Senator Feinstein in supporting the McCain rider to the Defense Appropriations act (S.Amdt. 1977 to H.R. 2863).

In my admittedly short lifetime of 42 years, I had never been ashamed to be an American– until I heard about what we've been doing at Guantanamo, at the prisons overseas, and in Iraq.

Please insist that this rider remains part of the appropriation, so that the American military can start to shed its image as oppressors, rather than liberators.

Please also provide the vast majority of our soldiers, both male and female, with this tool that they can use to curb the excesses of a few bad apples in their ranks– I am sure many of them are ashamed too, but fear reprisal if they blow the whistle.
