I couldn't remember which kinds of peppers were which (eg, early/late, red/yellow/orange) so I went trolling for pix. As happens all too frequently, one finds pix of veggies at… wait for it… SEED CATALOG SITES. Heh. Heh. Heh.
I clearly have a Pepper Gap, so I must need more peppers. I have an early red banana (turtle tree), a regular orange-ish frying pepper (tequila sunrise) and a late yellow frying pepper (marconi golden). Where, then, are my sweet salad peppers? And I still want a paprika varietal, though the sweet hungarian wax peppers from last year were pretty good.
Seek, and ye shall find. In perhaps excess abundance, but hey, life is short and seeds keep quite a while if stored properly:
Via Southern Exposure heirloom seeds,
46117 Hungarian Paprika PEPPER,SPICE (yes! my sweet/hot paprika buddies!)
46119 Super Shepherd PEPPER, FRYING (ok, couldn't resist)
46122 Jimmy Nardello's Italian PEPPER, SWEET/DRYING (ditto, a real heirloom that M & L will probably appreciate too, very intense flavor; chicken pepper subs par ex)
Via Nature Hills (who have a bit of Engrish on their catalog pages, but the Dave's Garden folks say they are great), my sweet salad peppers of orange and yellow,
Pepper – Bell – Mandarin
Pepper – Bell – Ori
Plus some tomatillos, and seeds of my own for Yellow Pear, as all I have is one plant. I was pleasantly shocked to find that it is an 1800's heirloom– who knew?!
Tomatillo – Toma Verde
Tomato – Yellow Pear
Whoa, /me mondo tired, off to bedzies.
