I'm really, really enjoying having my blender out of storage, and a countertop place to put it that's out of the way but easy to access.
The blender is nothing special, just a generic decent blender. What's great is that now I can make smoothies the way I like them, which I can't get at places like Jamba Juice or similar– just milk, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Occasionally, about a quarter to half teaspoon of honey, depending on the fruit and the mix.
A cup of frozen strawberries, a whole fresh banana, a quarter-cup of yogurt, and a glass of milk. Yum.
Another favorite: a banana (fresh or frozen), a quarter-cup (or more) of peanut butter (no salt, no sugar type), a quarter-tsp of honey, a glass of milk. Optionally, add a tbsp of cocoa powder to this one. Yum.
Or chocolate milk, the guiltfree way– glass of milk, 2 tsp cocoa powder, half-packet of splenda. Mmmm….I think I'll go make one now!
Trader Joe's has great frozen fruit, including tropical fruit chunks. I've been really happy with the quality of all their frozfruit. I also keep an eye out for sales of the organic frozfruit at Whole Foods, since I prefer that if it's not six prices. I hope to be growing my own strawberries this summer– check out these rockin' hanging bags that should do really well on the sunny fence in our yard. Since the kit is $10, the cost of a couple of quarts of berries, I'll give it a shot!
(I'll have to make a new icon, for our new place since we don't live in Birdie anymore!)
