Watered all the plants last night. Worried about the beet seedlings, but nothing much I can do for a couple of days. But they are alive, and they are depending on me! Argh! The petunia had been dry n droopy, but this morning when I left for work I saw several beautiful pink flowers open, yay. Mike wants to assist in getting drippers up for the hanging baskets, since he worries about plants too. That will take some time. In the meantime, I'd rather have a wet arm (from hanging them back up).
Put together the coffee tables that we moved the other night, then spent from about 7pm 'til 11pm emptying boxes. Spritzed out two of the big cupboards, found out how quickly shelf liner evaporates when you have big cupboards. We now have cups, glasses, silverware, dishes, and some random baking/casserole stuff deployed. Plus we have almost all the china and stemware put up in the built-in china cabinet, still in their little protective wrappers.
Found lots of things that have been wrapped up and put away since our wedding in 1998– we didn't have a lot of space in the apartment, and then after we got a china cabinet, we knew we were moving shortly. So it all stayed in boxes. Found the really nice mezuzot that we never put up in the old apartment (since we didn't want to have to leave them when we moved out); one has a scroll, the other needs one– been too long since I went to Bob & Bob and poked around anyway. The seder plate and haggadot materialized, so even if we do nothing else, we can host Passover this year, yay.
Then Mike arrived home with a load from the coach site, including all of the foundation posts, his scuba tanks, and various misc. Made quite a racket for what seemed like forever unloading that. Why doesn't he realize that unloading cinder blocks after 11pm is not an endearing trait in new neighbors?! Gah! Drives me nuts! Not to mention that he didn't say he was bringing over a lot of stuff, so here I am having been awake and going since 7am, so tired that my eyes are kind of buzzing, and now we have all this stuff to unload. Sigh. Took only a half hour or so, but I had to do a kind of forced 'wake up and get going' such that it took me until after 1am to finally get racheted down again enough to go to bed. So today is not one of my perkier days… as evidenced by my LJ'ing this entry from work.
To add annoyance to it all, today is the free seminar day sponsored by the arcane cluster dispatch SW vendor, and because I couldn't drag myself up and out of the house until after 10am, I just plain can't take the time to go to any of the seminars. GRRRRR. But no use arguing with M when he gets an idea in his head, especially if HE is tired and cranky– so I just grit my teeth and go along with it, and will be glad when we finish all this blankety-blank moving stuff.
Fricka-dicka-dappa-ding-dang. Oh well. At least Boo and I had some quality time this morning when I couldn't quite drag myself out of bed. And we lit the hot water heater last night and let it run, supervised, until it shut itself off, then set it to OFF and turned the line valve off for the gas to it. So we had fairly warm water showers this morning– the thing is massively insulated. If they replace it, better be equivalent like they promise, eg double-walled type. Our couches and chair come tomorrow. If we had them today, I might not have made it into work…zzzzz….
