We closed escrow today on a 1440 square foot manufactured home near Lawrence & Tasman. It's on one of the few extra-large lots in the park, so I have a 40+ by 6 foot garden area, *plus* the full patio and the assorted planting areas, and the sunroom, and the porch. Central heat and air with a filtering system and integrated programmable thermostat. R-31 roof insulation, and a new 20-year roof put on last year. Etc. About 1.5 times the indoor space and 10x the outdoor space of the apartment we had for so many years, at the same monthly cost. Which means we have a budget for investing, travelling, and buying rural land, yay.
It will be WONDERFUL to have all our stuff out of storage, and to have a bit more space than we've had for the past 33 months. Let's see if we can resist the temptation to move everything immediately long enough to do a bit of painting and tweaking.
First order of business– gotta get the garden started! Stuff is growing like crazy out there, and our dirt is just sitting there! I'm hoping to get at least one raised bed started this weekend. I need to check with M & L to see if they've got that flat of peas started for us that they said they were doing.
So. Housewarming will happen by and by. Social things will happen. And this year's Yuri's Night party will have a place big enough for some dancing, if the usual crowd of nerds can be persuaded to do some boogie. 🙂
Edit: oh yeah, I forgot to mention, it's .3 miles from the Tasman West light rail station at Vienna & Fair Oaks. Mt View Farmer's market, here we come– and no parking hassles!!! W00t! Ditto with downtown SJ museums and such, and non-tight connections to either airport. It will be nice to park at home, not in some random park-n-fly, yet not have to take a limo to the airport.
